WHAT WE BELIEVE
God eagerly seeks a relationship with every person. His desire is to fill our lives with His goodness, grace, and blessings. Yet our choice to live independently from God—to pursue our own way rather than His—has separated us from Him, from His blessings, and from the true life found only in Him.
Through His love and mercy, God invites us into a restored relationship with Him, offering hope, purpose, and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
BUT THERE IS HOPE
Because of His great love for us, God has provided a way for us to be restored to a wonderful and everlasting relationship with Him. Through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the barrier created by sin has been removed.
God invites each of us to know Him, experience His grace, and enjoy a life of purpose and hope—both now and forever. This gift of salvation is freely available to all who turn to Jesus Christ in faith and repentance.

OUR CORE BELIEFS First Christian Church • Leesburg, Florida
1. The Bible
We believe that the Bible is God's inspired Word. Although God used human authors to write Scripture, He preserved His Word from error. The Bible is sufficient for every person to know God, be reconciled to Him, and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
Scripture References: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; John 17:17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Matthew 4:4; Psalm 19:7–11.
2. God
We believe there is one God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He is eternal, all-powerful, all-wise, all-knowing, and completely good. Though He alone is God, He exists eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—the Trinity.

3. Humanity and Sin
We believe that God created mankind in His image with the freedom to choose between right and wrong. Humanity chose sin, resulting in separation from God and bringing all people under condemnation. Sin carries consequences in this life and, apart from Christ, eternal separation from God.

4. Jesus Christ
We believe that because of His great love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as the sacrifice for our sins. Jesus is fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin and without sin, He is Lord, Savior, and Messiah. He died on the cross, was buried, and rose bodily from the grave on the third day.

5. Salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, available to all, but received only by those who place their trust in Jesus Christ. Salvation comes by God's grace through faith. Saving faith includes repentance, submission to Jesus as Lord, and confession of Him before others.

6. Baptism
We believe that those who believe and repent are instructed by Scripture to be baptized by immersion. In the New Testament, baptism marked the point at which believers received forgiveness of sins and entered into new life in Christ. Through baptism, believers are united with Christ in His death and resurrection and are clothed with Him.

7. The Holy Spirit
We believe that at conversion, believers receive the indwelling gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit brings new life, guides believers, empowers obedience, and transforms Christians into the likeness of Christ.

8. The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, composed of all who have received Jesus Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ dwells within His church, unites believers, and equips each Christian with spiritual gifts for ministry and service.

9. Christ's Return
We believe that history is moving toward a glorious climax. Jesus Christ will return as King to judge the living and the dead. Every person will acknowledge Him as Lord and give an account of his or her life. God will create a new heaven and a new earth where sin will be no more, and His people will share in His eternal blessings and glory.

10. Eternal Life for Believers
We believe that when Christ returns, believers will receive the fullness of their salvation. They will be transformed, receive glorified resurrection bodies, and dwell forever with Christ in the New Jerusalem.

11. Eternal Judgment
We believe that those who reject Jesus Christ will face eternal punishment, which is the just consequence of rejecting God's offer of salvation.
